My entrepreneurial journey began with inspiration drawn from my young daughters, Emma and Quinn, who embody the essence of my Sun & Moon. Motivated by a desire to nurture strong, confident leadership qualities in them, I embarked on this venture. What better means to reinforce this aspiration than by sharing distinctive and exquisite balloon creations, thereby inspiring others along the way?
What do you like most about being a business owner in Frederick County?
The robust support for small businesses and the widespread collaboration across diverse sectors (from non-profits to business and education) contribute to a thriving community that fills me with pride to both reside in and operate my business within. It’s an extraordinary and inclusive environment that offers an exceptional blend of residential living and entrepreneurial opportunities.

What do you wish people knew about your business?
Did you know that becoming a Certified Balloon Artist is a significant achievement? Last November, Jolena undertook a rigorous 5-hour in-person test in Florida, after months of preparation, to earn this prestigious designation. This demonstrates our unwavering commitment to providing impeccable and professional balloon decor at Sun & Moon Balloon Design.
Beyond merely enhancing aesthetics, we believe our balloon arrangements possess the ability to evoke profound emotional responses for event attendees. Share some of your community involvement efforts.
We take immense pride in our presence and involvement within Frederick County. Jolena actively participates in various non-profit committees and contributes significantly to community initiatives through Key City Rotary and other events. Additionally, we prioritize sustainability by repurposing balloon decor from our events to bring joy to residents in nursing homes and other facilities. This not only spreads happiness but also ensures a more environmentally conscious use of our decorations.

Is there anything else exciting about your business that you want the Chamber membership to know about?
We had the pleasure of working with the Kansas City Chiefs when they were in Baltimore for the AFC Championship game – it was an honor to provide balloon decor for their event and a remarkable experience we are so proud of.
Moreover, we’re thrilled to announce the expansion of our services to include entrance tunnels and stage decor for corporate events. The response from our clients has been overwhelmingly positive, fueling our excitement for this new venture. As demand continues to grow and our spring calendar fills up rapidly, we’re in the process of expanding our team to better serve our expanding clientele. We’re eager to embark on this journey and continue delivering exceptional experiences through our balloon designs.
