The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce is proud to have numerous nonprofit businesses in our membership. Learn more about our April Member of the Month, Habitat for Humanity below.
Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County partners with families and individuals in need of a hand up to build or improve a place they can call home. Driven by the vision that everyone deserves a safe and secure home, they empower people through their Home Build and Home Repair programs, as well as through the Habitat ReStore on East Street. Currently, Habitat Frederick is working on their largest project ever and first of its kind in the state – 12 affordable for-sale homes on W. All Saints Street in Downtown Frederick.
Habitat Frederick
Since 1993, Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County has built or renovated 44 homes. They have mobilized more than 4,500 volunteers and trained partner families in budgeting, home repair, safety and maintenance. In March of 2022, Eric Anderson joined the Habitat Frederick team as the new Executive Director.
Habitat for Humanity homes are scattered throughout Frederick County communities in Middletown, Brunswick, the City of Frederick, Walkersville, Thurmont, Emmitsburg and Buckeystown.
In addition to building affordable housing, Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County is a designated Neighborhood Revitalization affiliate which serves local neighborhoods by responding to community aspirations with an expanded array of products, services and local partnerships that empower residents to revive their neighborhoods and enhance their quality of life.

Habitat ReStore
Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County is proud to operate the first ReStore in Western Maryland. The ReStore is a home improvement center that supports the work of Habitat for Humanity right here in Frederick County. By shopping at and donating to the Frederick ReStore, you help more Habitat for Humanity homeowners achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves and their families.
The ReStore takes in quality donations of gently used, discontinued and overstocked building materials, home improvement items, furnishings and accessories donated by individuals, suppliers and contractors. We sell these new and reusable goods to the public at a fraction of retail cost. Not only does this system raise important funds for Habitat for Humanity’s work, but by making donated materials available for reuse, we promote environmental responsibility and divert tons of reusable building materials from taking up space in local landfills.
Volunteer
The work of Habitat for Humanity is only possible because of the hundreds of volunteers throughout Frederick County who partner with us. Volunteers come with a variety of skills, interests and passions that contribute to our work helping Frederick County residents find strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable home ownership.
