Chamber of Commerce Week, 2019: We Are Your Frederick Chamber Staff

Happy Chamber of Commerce Week!

This week we, along with chambers across the United States, are celebrating being an active and integral part of the business community. We are proud to be able to spend each day advocating for Frederick County business owners and professionals and are hope you find the opportunities we provide valuable to your business advancement and success!

We often use this space and all of our social channels to highlight the multitude of member businesses that make us great, but this week we’ve decided to switch things up and share with you some of the people behind the networking events, advocacy initiatives, and grand openings with you. Because just like each of our member businesses bring something unique, engaging, inspiring, and downright cool to the Chamber, we too have a lot of pretty awesome individuals that make up the staff of your Frederick County Chamber of Commerce.

10 Things You May NOT Have Known About Your Frederick Chamber of Commerce Staff Members

There are only nine staff members here at the Chamber.

And not all of us are here full time. Together, we pull off over 100 member events. From networking events and lunch and learns, to major programs like the Public Safety Awards, our staff of nine works together to design, promote, organize, manage, and host each of our events. We also recruit new members, engage current members, help businesses network, promote member news and events, initiate and support various business initiatives, advocate with our local and national government, teach courses, provide marketing support, and so much more.

We have a lot of experience doing what we do at the Chamber.

Combined, the Chamber staff has over 40 years of experience working in Frederick at your Chamber of Commerce office.

But, we also have a lot of outside experience.

Our staff members have been teachers, tax preparers, politicians, restaurant owners, restaurant workers, marketers at large corporations, authors, retail managers, barge operators, land surveyors, federal employees, real estate agents, military interrogators, and more. We know a lot about owning and working at various businesses,  in various capacities and we use this experience to help inform a lot of the work we do here at the Chamber on your behalf.

None of us are from Frederick.

But we all love it here now. Whether we are from Southern California or a county nearby, we all call Frederick home now and love working and living in this city.

We all LOVE dogs.

And most of us have at least one. Although we do have a couple of cat owners in the mix too.

We sent our kids to FCPS.

Only one staff member still has children who attend Frederick County Public Schools, but many of our staff members have adult children who graduated from local schools.

Some of us are (or have been) business owners.

We have staff members who owned local restaurants, one who was in real estate, and even some with online businesses so we appreciate the struggles local business owners tend to face.

We shop, visit, and buy from our member businesses.

You will catch us eating lunch at Brewer’s Alley, getting beauty treatments at Lauren Abagale Lash, grabbing frozen yogurt at Menchie’s, and working out at One Life Fitness. We make an effort to frequent our member businesses, to recommend you to our friends, and to bring our families to your establishments even when we’re not on the clock with the Chamber.

We like to give back to the community.

Outside of work and spending time with family, our Chamber staff enjoys giving back to the community of Frederick. From volunteering to coach youth sports to holding board positions on various nonprofit committees, we at the Chamber understand the importance of giving back and love devoting time to the citizens of Frederick.

We love what we do here at the Chamber.

All nine Chamber employees can share something they love about working at the Chamber and most of that has to do with our members. Connecting members to each other, promoting your discoveries and successes, helping you develop relationships, supporting you as you achieve your goals, and being your voice in the community is what drives us to do our best work each day.
