Railroad Days in the City of Brunswick
Railroad Days is an annual two-day festival that takes place the first full weekend of October. Come be a part of our big town, small city, and enjoy our food, drink, music, games, crafts, restaurants, businesses and vendors! From our history as one of the hubs of the B&O Railroad and our past and current connections to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, to the spectacular beauty of the Potomac River and the amazing talent of our local performers, artists, and local business people, there is a lot to get excited about in Brunswick, Maryland!

The Corn Maze at Summers Farm
Challenge yourself or get lost with friends and family playing the world’s largest interactive game: Summers Farm’s famous corn maze! Summer’s Farm in Maryland is home to one of the largest corn mazes in the country. Our visitors come back year after year to the farm to experience our unique attraction. With over 12 acres of maze space to explore, divided into difficulty phases, there’s sure to be fun for the whole family! Some visitors stumble upon the right path quickly and make it out in under 30 minutes. Others find themselves wandering for hours. Don’t worry about getting lost, we have Scout Patches available that will guide people to come help you!

Pride 2021 by The Frederick Center
Celebrating LGBTQ+ History Month (October) and National Coming Out Day (October 11), the Frederick Center is celebrating Frederick Pride on Sunday, October 3, 2021, and we are bringing down the house! Well, technically, we are bringing down the creek! This year, we will be going all out to put together the craziest, wildest, and safest party to ever come to Downtown Frederick.

In The Streets by Celebrate Frederick
For over 30 years, In The Streets has been a proud Frederick tradition held along Market Street and Carroll Creek Urban Park. The festival began in 1983 after major renovations closed Market Street for several months. When the dust settled Mayor Ron Young decided to hold a festival for the entire community to encourage reinvestment in downtown. The Festival was held in the street, so the naming of the event was simple. That first In The Streets festival boasted 10,000 in attendance. Today, In The Streets attracts crowds of over 75,000. In The Streets continues to invite attendees to explore historic downtown Frederick, while offering a sampling of the diverse food, entertainment, art and non-profit resources that thrive in Frederick County.

The Great Frederick Fair
Frederick County’s single largest event, featuring 18,000 competitive exhibits, ranging from livestock, home arts, farm & garden to 4-H/FFA. A premier showcase for agriculture and education.

Tractor Truck Pull at The Frederick Fairgrounds
Truck and tractor pulling, also known as power pulling, is a motorsport competition, popular in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Brazil and New Zealand, which requires antique or modified tractors to pull a heavy drag as far as possible.

Demo Derby Trucks and Vans at the Frederick Fairgrounds
The truck and van version of the demo derby. Watch the trucks and vans try to take each other out! Last truck or van standing wins. Loads of fun!

Middletown Heritage Festival
Middletown, Maryland’s Middletown Heritage Festival is the town’s cornerstone event and its biggest party of the year! Tons of food and retail vendors and lots of great activities for the entire family to enjoy. Entertainers will perform on the main stage throughout the Festival. Country, blues and more can be heard throughout the weekend.

14th Annual Scarecrow Contest by Burgess and Commissioners of Middletown, MD
All Middletown residents, organizations and businesses are invited to use their creativity, old clothing and art supplies to transform straw, wood and burlap into a whole host of characters!

Middletown Halloween Parade
Dress in costume and march in Middletown’s Annual Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 30, 2021. The parade begins at 5:00 PM.
The parade will begin at the school complex and will end at the municipal center for candy and light refreshments.
Judging starts promptly at 4:15 PM at the school complex. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes to be awarded in the following categories: Babies, Most Original, Ugliest, Funniest, Prettiest and Family.

Toby McKeehan, better known by his stage name TobyMac, is an American Christian hip hop recording artist, music producer, songwriter and author. He has charted 20 solo singles on Billboard’s Christian Songs list. He brings his act to the Great Frederick Fair on September 17, 2021.

Alive at 5 by Downtown Frederick Partnership
Alive @ Five is an outdoor happy hour every Thursday from 5-8pm in the Carroll Creek Amphitheater. Alive @ 5 starts on July 1st and runs until September 30th, 2021. It is 21+ only, $5 entry, $5 for drinks, and food available for purchase on site. We feature a different band every week.

The American Way: Revolutionary War to World War II presented by Frederick County Public Libraries
The American way of war has evolved immensely throughout the past 246 years. In just over two centuries, the United States has transformed itself from colonial militias into a colossus on the world stage. This class will concentrate on the evolution of the American way of war by focusing on the American Revolution, the Mexican War, Civil War, World War I, and World War II. We’ll look into the evolution of strategy, equipment, and generalship. We will not only study the battles as they occurred; but together we’ll discuss what was the cause of victory or defeat. If you are ready to enter the minds of Washington, Lee, Grant, Pershing, and Bradley, this is the class for you.

Butter Making & a Movie
Anyone can Cook! Historically that is true. Everyone had their cooking tasks that had to be done. Making Butter is one of those tasks. Now taking cream and making it into butter takes a long time, so we’re going to be playing a movie too! Come learn how to make butter while watching Ratatouille at 6 pm on Friday, September 17th.

Walking tour in Downtown Frederick with National Civil War Medicine Museum
Every Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 PM from April until October, docents from the National Museum of Civil War Medicine will explain how Frederick became “One Vast Hospital,” arguably the most trying moment in the city’s history came after the Battle of Antietam in the fall of 1862. The town’s population doubled when 8,000 wounded soldiers were delivered by ambulance to make-shift hospitals throughout Frederick.

New Market Fighter Run
Join the 3rd annual New Market Fighter Run in memory of Karen Durbin, who served as Town Clerk for 14 year and passed away in November 2020 after a long battle with cancer.
On Saturday, October 2nd, you and fellow fighters will walk/run a 3.1 mile course through the historic town of New Market and adjacent neighborhoods. This is a family friendly event and all ages are welcome. The race is entirely volunteer staffed, and all facilities and services are 100% donated—proceeds, net of T-shirt expense only, will be donated to the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund.
