How long have you been a member of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce?
9 years
Tell us a little bit about your organization. Can you provide an overview of your mission, key initiatives or services you provide?
Our innovative, effective, free programs for women 18+ combine the power of one-on-one mentoring, community-building workshops, and opportunities to connect to help women identify and work toward their goals in education, career, and life.
We are a strong and supportive community of connectors, collaborators, supporters, guides, uniters, and bridge-builders. We care. We listen. We love. We believe in acceptance and understanding. We are real. We are confidence builders. We are learners.
We acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of our community. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to our mission, and we embrace both our common humanity and what makes each of us unique. We foster belonging for all and amplify women’s voices, affirm their value, and spotlight their strengths.
Our current programs are Mentoring Circles – peer to peer mentoring 35+, CORE – one-on-one mentoring 18-35, STEM – one-on-one mentoring (Undergrad)
What inspired the creation of your nonprofit? Share the story behind its founding.
Three FCCFW women sat around the kitchen table and created an advisory board, as well as fine-tuned the program. In 2007 Woman to Woman Mentoring was born and opened its doors in the Adults Service Center at Frederick Community College. With a matching donation from the Ausherman Family Foundation, W2WM was established and ready to serve more women in the community.

What’s an interesting fact about your nonprofit most people don’t know?
Mentors come in all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. Sometimes people get nervous when thinking about becoming a mentor because they have not achieved certain accomplishments or reached certain milestones that make them feel equipped to be a mentor. At Woman to Woman Mentoring we want you to know that your unique life experiences could be the perfect inspiration for a young woman seeking guidance and encouragement as she discovers her path in life.
How can the community support your organization?
We are always accepting donations to continue to provide free mentoring services for women in Frederick County.
Do you have any initiatives or events coming up you would like the community to know about and get involved in?
