Tell us ACNB’s business origin story.

ACNB Bank was started in 1857 by a small group of community-minded individuals. These farmers, merchants, and individuals knew the importance of access to financial services and resources. And they worked hard to launch an institution that would have the best interest of the community at heart. While much has changed in the world since then, one thing remains the same: ACNB Bank is committed to you. 

In 2020, we joined the Frederick Community by acquiring and continuing the work of Frederick County Bank. We are proud to provide banking and wealth management services, including trust and retail brokerage, via a network of 26 community banking offices in Pennsylvania and Maryland. We’re also affiliated with ACNB Insurance Services, Inc. of Westminster, MD, a full-service insurance agency.

For over 166 years, we have stood side-by-side with our customers, local businesses, and communities. From first accounts to first homes, from new businesses to next generation owners, we’ve loved celebrating every milestone with our customers.

Share some of your community involvement efforts.

ACNB Bank is an active participant in our local Frederick County communities and our staff members regularly lend a helping hand to many activities, events and special initiatives. Members of TEAM ACNB serve as volunteer leaders on boards and committees with local non-profits including Downtown Frederick Partnership, Frederick Arts Council, Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity Frederick County, Mental Health Association of Frederick, Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, and United Way of Frederick County – just to name a few. 

Our team also volunteers their time at lots of events including United Way’s Day of Action, Downtown Frederick Partnership’s Alive @ Five and Bring a Broom, Habitat for Humanity’s Blue Crabs and Blue Prints, Frederick Rotary Club’s Oktoberfest and Tour de Frederick, and many others. We take pride in offering community organizations the opportunity to promote their mission and upcoming events by decorating a window at our downtown Frederick Office for a full month. With all of the foot traffic downtown, this free form of publicity has become quite popular. 

Additionally, we host a number of collection drives in our four Frederick County offices such as a school supply drive, food drive, and book drive to help individuals and families in need within our local communities. Annually in the spring, we host a Community Shred Day to provide an easy way for residents and customers to securely dispose of confidential documents while also collecting much-needed items for a local non-profit. We believe this level of engagement is what sets us apart as a true community bank. We are committed to Frederick County!
