A conversation with Monica Kolbay, President & CEO

Tell us ArachnidWorks’ business origin story.

ArachnidWorks began as a small branding and website design firm in 1998, and organically grew to include a steady stream of marketing clients along the East Coast. By 2008, ArachnidWorks formally incorporated and began growing our team and client base to serve a larger array of creative and digital needs. 

Our name comes from the “web” side of our work – a good portion within digital marketing and website design/development. Those older search engines some of you might recall (AOL, Yahoo…) used to reference the “spidering” of a website by sending out their crawlers to rank websites in early search. We were on the cusp of that technology and have not looked back – getting stronger and more nimble with our lead generation approach, and optimization techniques every day!

What do you like most about being a business owner in Frederick?

The business community in Frederick is second to none. The relationships, support from like-minded marketing and strategic minds makes us stronger, and we have found Frederick to be an amazing connector of those doing good in our community.

What makes ArachnidWorks unique?

We very much make your business our business. Our team is exceptionally well-integrated in a highly-collaborative manner – each team member with their own forte in specific areas of digital, marketing strategy, and creative development. We are highly integrated with our community and are excited by challenges that force our own ways of thinking to expand. 

What do you want ArachnidWorks to be known for?

We offer very high-level custom and strategic planning to all things creative, promotional, digital marketing, and more. We seek to align with businesses and organizations (small and large) that are ready to take their business/product/concepts to the next level and are seeking a truly unique and relationship-based experience.

Share some of your community involvement efforts.

Our CEO and Director of Operations & Account Management are members of Rotary in Frederick, and have served on a multitude of boards within organizations in and around our community. From the Frederick Rescue Mission to the American Advertising Federation and Mental Health Association. Our team is highly involved in helping our community partners in an array of ways including providing local non-profit organizations the marketing assistance they need in order to spread their message and better our community.

What do you do best?

We have an amazing creative team that designs and develops incredible assets – print, digital, and interactive. And, our marketing strategy is second to none in creating strong lead generation strategy, social messaging, content marketing, and website experiences for our business partners.

Do you have any exciting plans coming up? 

We recently completed the full buildout and renovation of our third floor in our beautiful building in downtown Frederick, right along Carroll Creek. And, we have plans to expand the building for more space to serve our team and clients, and we feel we could not be better-placed to do so!
