When a community invests in quality of life, they’re putting money into more than just arts, entertainment, and recreation – they’re contributing to the development of a better community for all. Building a place where residents can live, work and enjoy life is the overarching goal of any community. So how does Frederick County stack up? Let’s dive in.
Arts
Between the dance performances, live theater, musicians playing in the streets, public art displays, and thriving galleries, it’s no questioning that Frederick County is home to creative people. More importantly, these individuals can also make a living wage doing what they love. Places like the Maryland Ensemble Theater and the Griffin Art Center allow people to gather, produce, collaborate and present their talents to the community. In the same spaces, artists like William Cochran are invited to develop stunningly realistic pieces of art that bridge the gap between divided communities.
Entertainment
Warm hotdogs, fresh popcorn, and cold beer at a baseball game… the ingredients for a great evening. In Frederick County, we have all that without going to a big city. With the Frederick Keys in our own backyard, we can enjoy live baseball games and their perks all summer long. Placing emphasis on the fan experience and community involvement, fun is a priority at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.
Recreation
Hoppy or sweet, canned or bottled, shaken or stirred, we all have different preferences for our drink of choice. But we can all agree that craft beverages and the great outdoors are the perfect mix! Delicious drinks and nature just go well together, and in our county, we get the best of both worlds. With access to national and state parks, stunning waterways, and famous trails, Frederick County is the East Coast mecca for outdoor exploration. We’re also home to a booming craft beverage industry that boasts more than 30 wineries, breweries, distilleries, cideries and meaderies.
For Frederick County, backing these organizations, businesses and individuals has resulted in long-term community growth and prosperity. As the Best Class Ever (Class of 2022) nears the end of the Leadership Frederick County, Quality of Life Day tied together how connected our community is and why that’s so critical. Without the knowledge of our history, a quality governing body, intentional economic development, a robust education system, access to health and human services, and other essential sectors, our quality of life would suffer. To keep growing, we need to keep collaborating, challenging, and contributing to our community.
