Woman to Woman Mentoring provides women with guidance, support, and community connections through mentoring relationships. They are a 501c3 non-profit created by a group of community leaders to serve the women of Frederick County.

Creating Woman to Woman Mentoring

In 2004, the Frederick County Commission for Women (FCCFW) conducted a Needs Assessment Survey that examined the key needs and priorities of women in Frederick County. The study consisted of eight focus groups and a written questionnaire distributed randomly throughout the county. Virtually all of the focus group sessions raised the topic of “mentoring” as an unmet need for women in the county. From that conversation, a few women sat around a kitchen table and built this amazing place for women to be heard, take action, move forward, and grow (and what’s even better is some of them are still involved with the organization today!) In 2007, they partnered with Frederick Community College to expand their programs and in 2015 became their own 501c3. They’ve adapted and changed many times over the years to meet the needs of women in the community and plan to do so to ensure all women can thrive in Frederick.

For over 10 years, Woman to Woman mentees have used the power of mentorship to succeed in transition; start, restart, and complete school; explore, start, grow, and advance in their careers; and to build connections. More than 400 women have worked with Woman to Woman Mentoring to gain new skills and perspectives, move to the next level, and build their futures!

Woman to Woman Mentoring Programs

Woman to Woman Mentoring strives on the concept that: We are a strong and supportive community of connectors, collaborators, supporters, guiders, uniters, and bridge-builders. We care. We listen. We love. We believe in acceptance and understanding. We are real. We are confidence builders. We are learners. We love the diversity of our community and celebrate both our uniqueness and our differences. We strive to achieve equity, inclusion, and belonging and to use our platform to amplify the voices of others, affirm their value, and spotlight their strengths. We strive to help ALL women thrive.

Programs offered through Woman to Woman Mentoring include CORE Mentoring, which assists women who desire personal and professional guidance. Women in STEM, which connects STEM women students with STEM women professionals as mentors and role models. And Mentoring Circles, which are short-term, group-based workshops specifically geared towards women who want to explore “what’s next”!
