Meet InBloom Jewelry: An Interview tihe Owner Stacy Krantz

How Did You Get Into Metalworking and Jewelry Artistry?

I was inspired to learn metalsmithing while in college and just began to teach myself basic skills. By the time I graduated, I knew I wanted to continue the work full time and start my own business.

I am primarily self taught and find that I learn best by diving in and gaining practical experience.

Early on I studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art Jewelry Center. Then later in my career, I completed workshops with masters in the fields of stone setting, wax carving and most recently hand engraving.

When Did You Start Your Custom Jewelry Business?

I first opened my business in 1997. Initially, I worked from my home studio in Frederick; selling online and through art shows throughout the country.

About 6 years ago, I began working closely with some of my clients to create custom pieces and found that I really enjoyed the challenge and joy of bringing my clients’ jewelry ideas to life.

I began to focus on custom fine jewelry and after the pandemic saw the opportunity to open a brick and mortar location in downtown Frederick.

What do you like most about being a business owner in Frederick?

The community!

Frederick has a very special charm in that we work hard to take care of each other. I have felt a huge amount of support from other small business owners, the Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Frederick Partnership, and many others. We all help Frederick thrive and that makes it a great city to be a business owner.

What Makes InBloom Unique?

I work very hard to create a unique, collaborative experience for my clients. It is very important to me to take the time to listen to what has brought them to the gallery. The joy for me is in the co-creative process of combining my client’s vision with my designer’s eye and technical knowledge.
