The Trail House was started in 1984 by Gerry and Clyde Hicks.
Both Gerry and Clyde have a love for the outdoors and wanted to share their love with other members of the Frederick community.
In 2020, they decided that they wanted to retire and passed the business down to their son, Drennan and his wife Catie.
Drennan and Catie continued the transition of the business until now and have provided the same great customer experience that The Trail House customers have known to love.

What Is The Trail House Known For?
We are an outdoor apparel store based in Downtown Frederick, Maryland.
We have been outfitting the Frederick community for 37 years. We choose quality gear and apparel that is designed to enhance any outdoor activity from walking to camping to rock climbing.
We offer a wide variety of premier brand products from clothing, backpacks, sleeping bags, tents and climbing gear to an extensive array of technical and casual footwear, local guidebooks and more.
We also pride ourselves on our customer service and make sure all of our customers feel comfortable and excited to get outside.

The community here in Frederick is really great.
They are very supportive of all small businesses here and have supported through tough times! Plus, we get to meet a wide variety of people who visit Frederick from all over.
There is so much great history in Frederick and we are in excellent location to a lot of great outdoor experiences.

We are a family run business that wants to support the community and support local outdoor recreation. We want to get more people into the outdoors comfortable and safely with the right gear/clothing/equipment.
