Meet Habitat for Humanity Frederick

Habitat Frederick was established in 1993 to give families in need a hand up to build or improve their home.

Since then they’ve built or renovated almost 50 homes, and just in the last year the organization completed more than 20 critical safety or aging-in-place home repairs around the County.

Habitat believes that everyone deserve to have a safe, decent place to live, and we continue to work with families on their pathway to affordable homeownership!

Meet Habitat for Humanity Frederick

The Habitat Vision

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity of Frederick County partners with families and individuals in need of a hand up to build or improve a place they can call home. Through financial support, volunteering, adding a voice to support affordable housing, or shopping at the ReStore, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower.

We are here for our neighbors. Our Home Repair program allows us to give folks a hand up to fix things around the house that they’re unable to complete. Whether it’s installing a wheelchair ramp or replacing a back door so it locks properly, our staff and volunteers love working with homeowners to ensure they have what they need.

Habitat in Frederick

Frederick County is AMAZING! People are so generous and kind and willing to give of themselves.

At Habitat Frederick, we’ve mobilized more than 4,500 volunteers through the years and we get new requests from individuals and businesses constantly. When you love where you live and/or work, and you give back as so many do in Frederick, it shows!

Though we are not the only housing nonprofit in Frederick County, we are the only one who builds affordable, FOR SALE homes.

We work with 1st time homebuyers to qualify and educate them on what it means to be a homeowner, getting a mortgage, and putting sweat equity into their homes.

We also do critical safety home repairs AND have a retail shop – the ReStore – where you can donate your gently use furniture, home goods, building supplies, etc. and then shop for treasure!
