Meet Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley

Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley is a local non-profit organization offering thrift retail stores, donation centers, and career development mission services.

Goodwill Industries was founded in the early 1900’s with the purpose of “giving a hand up, not a hand out.” Today, Goodwill organizations operate regionally and provide meaningful services to their communities including thrift retail stores, donation centers, and career development mission services.

Here in Frederick, 2021 will be an exciting year for Goodwill.

Along with their new leadership team, they’re launching an online career services site, MyCareerAdvisor.com in early 2021. They will also be celebrating the opening of their new campus, including new training programs and services, and the much anticipated Veteran Service Center in Partnership with Platoon 22 onsite at Goodwill.

Learn more about this organization and how they positively impact the Frederick community via their service.

Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley: They’re More Than a Thrift Store

Goodwill provides their career development services at no cost.

Many people know Goodwill for their thrift stores, but when you donate at Goodwill and shop, you’re helping support their mission services of providing career development resources to the community at no cost.

Your donations help the environment too.

When you donate, you’re helping the environment by keeping no-longer needed items from going directly to the landfill. Goodwill asks that you donate

They’re offering an exciting new service to jobseekers in 2021.

Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley will be launching a whole new service delivery model in 2021 providing career and employment services to help anyone in need of finding a job and developing their career with no-cost resources. At GIMV, they’re gearing up to start with the launch of their online career services platform, MyCareerAdvisor. MyCareerAdvisor brings online resources to help you prepare for finding a job wherever you are. This includes resume and interview assistance, and Goodwill’s online training services to help boost your career.

Goodwill doesn’t sell items in their shops to make a profit.

Goodwill is a non-profit organization. Your purchases and donations support their career and employment mission services.

Goodwill is launching a new advisory committee in 2021.

Looking to volunteer? In 2021 GIMV will be launching their Business and Community Advisory Council.

Goodwill of Monocacy Valley is on a mission to end poverty through the power of work. They believe this is only possible by working closely with local business and community leaders to ensure the relevance and quality of their programs for job seekers and learners in our region. Goodwill’s Business and Community Advisory Council (BCAC) will provide invaluable advice and counsel to Goodwill leadership as they implement programs aligned with labor market trends and the unique needs of our workforce.
