International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is also a day focused on supporting and promoting women’s equality.

At the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, the Women in Business Committee is committed to  empowering and developing women through education, networking, mentoring and partnerships and to promote opportunities for all women throughout Frederick County.

In honor of International Women’s Day, we wanted to shed some light on just a few of the amazing local women business owners who are actively contributing to Frederick’s community and economy in meaningful and exciting ways.

Troyce Gatewood is a native Washingtonian and has lived in the area all of her life. She grew up in Northwest DC, lived in Bethesda and the Potomac area for 20 years, and then moved to Frederick in 2005. She’s currently licensed in Maryland, and specializes in both Frederick and Montgomery Counties. Troyce is a member of the Greater Capital Association of Realtors (GCAR) as well as the Frederick Capital Association of Realtors (FCAR), and is also a Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) where she helps counsel homeowners regarding short sales. Serina Roy, Dublin Roasters

With more than 80 varieties of coffee at Dublin Roasters, handcrafting Organic Artisan Coffee is their specialty. They also offer hot tea, Hot Caramel Spiced Apple Cider (made with local McCutcheon’s apple cider), Sophie & Madigan’s Hot Chocolate, plus breakfast, lunch, baked goods, and much more!

Dublin Roasters owner and founder, Serina Roy, has been roasting coffee for over 20 years and is truly dedicated to the art of coffee roasting. Each year, Serina sources raw coffee beans from small farms in countries such as Columbia, India, Ecuador, Vietnam, Brazil, Honduras, and Guatemala. Their roasting facility, located in the rear of the building, is always open for visitors to tour and learn more about the roasting process.
