Special Announcement: Elizabeth Cromwell Resigns as President & CEO

Elizabeth Cromwell resigns as President & CEO of Frederick County Chamber of Commerce
– Rick Weldon named Chamber President & CEO – 

The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced today the resignation of Chamber President and CEO Elizabeth Cromwell, who is leaving to become the President and CEO of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce in Virginia. Her last day will be September 14, 2018. Rick Weldon, Vice President of Chamber Operations, will become the president and CEO.

Cromwell has served as the Chamber’s President and CEO since 2014. Under her leadership, the Chamber launched several new programs and initiatives, including the signature Partners in Trust program, and moved its headquarters back to downtown Frederick. “Elizabeth has done an outstanding job leading the Chamber the last four years. She was instrumental in strengthening the Chamber’s ability to meet the needs of the Frederick business community and ensured we are well-positioned for the future. We thank Elizabeth for her service and wish her well,” said Jon-Mikel Bailey, Chairman of the Board. “At the same time, we are delighted that Rick will serve as the president and CEO.”

Weldon joined the Chamber staff in 2013 and has long-been involved with the Frederick County community. In addition to serving as Vice President of Chamber Operations, he is the Executive Director of the Chamber’s Leadership Frederick program.

“Rick’s experience and knowledge of Frederick and the region make him the right person to lead the Chamber.  With more than 800 businesses belonging to the Chamber, we are committed to ensuring the Chamber continues to be their trusted partner and voice in ways that help make them successful,” Bailey added.
