Leadership Frederick County Celebrates 30 Years!

On May 16, 2018 Leadership Frederick County program alumni, content experts and program supporters from three decades came together at ThorpeWood in the Catoctin mountains for a memorable evening in celebration of the success and longevity of the program.

“For 30 years, Leadership Frederick County has produced groups of creative, connected and compassionate leaders committed to improving daily life in Frederick. Our alumni represent all walks of life, and the gender, age, race and socioeconomic diversity of our classes helps build lifelong connections,” said LFC Executive Director Rick Weldon. “I’m proud that the Chamber values and nurtures the LFC program, from our Board of Directors to our hard-working volunteers. Here’s to the next 30 years, may it bring along another 1,000+ transformational community leaders!”

One of the highlights of the evening was a presentation to Michele Waxman-Johnson, the Leadership Frederick County Executive Director from 1999-2010 recognizing her passion and dedication to the program.

“The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce enjoys its responsibility to produce Leadership Frederick. This program produces graduates who exponentially strengthen our overall business community through both leadership skills and through the vast network of like-minded leaders with whom to partner and mutually support. The success of Leadership Frederick is deeply entwined with the Chamber’s overarching goal to build the most successful and collaborative business community in the region. As we continue to cultivate and provide an ongoing platform for exceptional leadership in Frederick County, the entire business community will benefit, grow, and prosper,” commented Elizabeth Cromwell, Chamber of Commerce President & CEO.

The Leadership Frederick County program and the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce would like to acknowledge Thorpewood for serving as our host for the event as well as having been the home to hundreds of LFC experiences. Our appreciation also goes out to theteam at Canapés Catering for providing amazing food and desserts that evening. Our graditude is also extended to Elon Eisenberg and Double-E Entertainment for supplying top notch audio visual and the Magic Mirror Photo Booth.
