Meet Lisa Gorham Creative
What inspired you to leave the firm world and launch your own design company?
I really wanted to collaborate one-on-one with my clients, and develop thoughtful, strategic solutions for their businesses and brands. Since launching, I’ve had the pleasure of working with incredible people across a multitude of industries, from local and national, to international brands, including: food and beverage, health and beauty, home and garden, real estate, finance and investment, government, institutional, and non-profit organizations.
What do you love most about being a business owner in Frederick?
As a designer, I absolutely love being a part of an arts-rich city that’s as creative and vibrant as Frederick. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of a tight-knit, diverse business landscape that’s incredibly supportive of each other and their community.
Frederick is home to several design firms, what sets you apart?
Frederick plays host to several talented creative firms and studios, each unique in their own right. One aspect that differentiates us, is the people behind the company name—the creatives behind the work. The same holds true for Lisa Gorham Creative. I’m the sole creative director, designer, and strategic partner for each and every one of my clients. Our collaborative partnership not only ensures clarity of business objectives and brand alignment, but it also keeps project development targeted to established goals. I’m also diligent about the amount of work that I take on at any given time. In order to maintain a high level of quality work and achieve client goals, it’s essential to commit the necessary time to the creative process and execute meticulously.
One other fun fact… I’m pretty sure that I’m the only Canadian-owned and operated creative studio in Frederick. I believe having worked in two countries, in two very different cities, is a great benefit which has given me an added level of perspective and experience. At the very least, I can give you some great winery recommendations the next time you’re traveling to the Great White North, eh.
In what ways does Lisa Gorham Creative give back to the Frederick Community? Any causes you’re uniquely passionate about?
I’ve been actively involved with the American Advertising Federation (AAF) in numerous capacities, since 2005, including serving: on the AAF-Greater Frederick board of directors; as a portfolio reviewer for the AAF–Greater Frederick & AIGA Blue Ridge Student Portfolio Bootcamp for 13 years; on the AAF-Greater Frederick Awards committee for 16 years; as a two-time co-chair of AAF-Advertising Club of New York and AAF District Two’s Regional American Advertising Awards; and I’m proud to serve as an AAF American Advertising Awards judge for various clubs across the U.S.
Over the years my philanthropy work has included numerous public service initiatives for local non-profits and national military service aid programs.
Perhaps closest to my heart was the work we did for the AnySoldier.com program. With the help of the AAF-Greater Frederick membership, local businesses, and community, we sent over 200 care packages to U.S. servicemen, women, and dogs, serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Most recently, I had the honor of working with Team Hope—a local non-profit that provides funding for clinical breast exams, follow-up care, and all needed imaging to uninsured or under-insured Frederick County, MD residents. Lisa Gorham Creative joined forces with Tribe, another local design and branding firm, to take on rebranding the organization. This partnership initiative allowed us to give back to our community by donating 100% of our time and efforts to an NPO that does so much for our community.
