Blessings in a Backpack, Frederick Chapter
Blessings in a Backpack Frederick Chapter is a nonprofit organization working to end childhood hunger on the weekends for students in Frederick County. During the school week, many children rely on school meals as their primary source of nutrition. When the weekend arrives, that safety net disappears. Our chapter bridges that weekend hunger gap by providing prepacked, shelf-stable, kid-friendly food to nearly 3,000 local students every Friday. We collaborate with schools, businesses, civic groups, and volunteers who pack and deliver these bags to ensure children return to school on Monday nourished and ready to learn. As part of the national Blessings in a Backpack network—serving more than 1,200 community-driven programs across the country—we’re proud to make a local impact through community partnerships, fundraising events, and volunteer engagement.
