Tell us your business origin story!
Founded in 2022 by owner Jolena Simoneau, Sun & Moon Balloon Design began as a creative outlet and quickly grew into a thriving event décor company. Jolena became a Certified Balloon Artist in 2023 after extensive training and a commitment to professionalism in her craft. What started as a small idea to bring more joy to local celebrations has evolved into a full-scale operation serving businesses of all sizes, as well as colleges, universities, and nonprofits. Our mission has always remained the same—to make clients’ lives easier through creative, professional, and memorable design.
What do you like most about being a business in Frederick County?
Frederick County is a community that values connection, creativity, and collaboration. The support from local businesses, nonprofits, and organizations, combined with the perfect balance of historic charm and modern energy, makes it an inspiring place to grow and give back.
What makes Sun & Moon Balloon unique?
We combine artistry with professionalism. As a certified, insured, and environmentally responsible company, we’re proud members of the Coalition for Responsible Celebration and partners with TerraCycle for latex balloon recycling. Every design is customized to our client’s vision, executed with precision, and backed by our signature philosophy: Easy is Beautiful.
What do you want Sun & Moon Balloon to be known for?
We strive to be known for making the event-planning process effortless while delivering stunning, professional results. I often hear from people who’ve tried creating their own balloon arches or garlands for a friend or workplace event, only to realize how difficult and time-consuming it can be. Balloon décor is both an art and a science—requiring strategy, design expertise, and technical skill. Investing in professional décor is always worth it for the polished results, stress-free experience, and the lasting impression it creates for guests.
Share some of your community involvement efforts!
Community is at the heart of what we do. We proudly support local nonprofits such as The Arc of Washington County, the Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County, and others by donating our time and décor, often repurposing event balloons to benefit their causes whenever possible. We’re also active members of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, the Women in Business Committee, and Key City Rotary, where service and connection remain central to our mission.
What do you do best?
We make it easy. Our clients love how we bring their vision to life with creativity, precision, and professionalism. From our signature organic garlands and balloon arches to large-scale corporate installations, we transform spaces into unforgettable experiences while making the process seamless and stress-free.
Is there anything else you’d like the Chamber membership to know about?
We’re currently working to make our Grab & Go services even more convenient by introducing a local drop-off delivery option, anticipated to launch in early 2026. We’re also expanding partnerships with local businesses and nonprofits to continue making event planning in Frederick County easy, beautiful, and memorable.
