Tell us your story
Sue founded Octavo Designs in April 2000. Since then, Octavo has grown into a locally and nationally recognized graphic design studio. Sue has over twenty years of experience in graphic design, pre-press, and print industry. In 2003, Sue acquired Gecko Media Group, a regional web development and marketing firm, thus elevating the company’s web design presence. As a result, Octavo dives into both print and interactive marketing services. Sue is the creative director with a branding focus that ties directly into each client’s marketing strategies and goals. Sue’s studio atmosphere evokes fun and creativity, and her work is no different.
What do you like most about being a business in Frederick County?
Frederick is a wonderful place to live and have a business in. Our clients are our friends and neighbors – we love helping them thrive and succeed. Frederick still has that small town charm with close access to metropolitan areas to do business.
Why did you join the Chamber, and how has being a member benefited your business?
I liked the people at the Chamber! I also wanted to grow my business and meet other potential business owners. We have gained new clients by being able to showcase our work we have done for the Chamber (including the fun wall graphics!). We have also been able to be a voice on different committees which I hope has in turn helped other businesses.
What do you want your business / organization to be known for?
For creating fun and innovative work that stands out from the crowd.
Share some of your community involvement efforts.
Sue is a member of the Key City Rotary Club, Board Member for the Frederick Arts Council, and a Board Member for the Chamber. Octavo volunteers our time and design services for many local nonprofits here in Frederick. In fact, one of the team members is going to get “pied” in the face today for charity.
Do you have any exciting promotions or interesting events coming up?
April 1, 2025 Octavo will be celebrating 25 years in business!
