What does Phoenix Mecano do?

Headquartered in Frederick, Maryland, Phoenix Mecano is the North American value-added manufacturer of the Swiss-based holding company Phoenix Mecano Group. We proudly offer our customers enclosures, automation solutions and customization for a variety of industries.

Tell us the Phoenix Mecano business origin story.

Phoenix Mecano products have been sold in the USA since 1976. We have a passion for making the complex into something simpler so our customers can focus on their bigger picture. We produce an extensive catalog of standard and specialized products, most of which can be customized to the specific application needs of our North American customers.

What do you like most about being a business in Frederick?

We value our established North America home base in Frederick, MD and the supportive and collaborative relationships we have built with local organizations.

Why did you join the Chamber?

Phoenix Mecano believes in supporting education, networking and development of our workforce. Joining the Chamber was the perfect way to support these initiatives and build partnerships within the Frederick business community.

How has being a member of the Chamber benefited your business?

Chamber membership has provided personal and professional growth opportunities for our employees. Numerous employees have participated in valuable Chamber sponsored programs. We are proud to have sponsored 4 Leadership Frederick graduates, participated in SHE Week for the past 2 years and encouraged participation in the Young Professionals Meetings.

What do you want Phoenix Mecano to be known for?

Phoenix Mecano has a long-standing tradition of providing the highest quality products and the most responsive customer service. We achieve this by meeting the needs of our customers, involving and training employees, and creating a work culture that encourages and demonstrates continuous process and product improvements.

Share some of your community involvement efforts.

Community engagement, mentorship and volunteering are core areas that we believe contribute to the well-being of our employees, our business and our community. Phoenix Mecano has actively participated in the Employer Summit to hire people with disabilities, Reverse Job Fair, Workforce Development Listening Tour and Women in Trades events.

We strive to share our passion for manufacturing by investing time to give tours of our facility to community groups such as the MD Blueprint Career Coaches and Scott Key Center. In addition, we value workforce readiness and mentorship programs like the FCPS Youth Apprentice Program, FCOED STEM internship, and Logistics/Production Transitional Work Experience thru Workforce Services.

We have partnered with the United Way of Frederick County and The Frederick Rescue Mission to provide financial support, paid workday community service, and in-kind donations such as school supplies or holiday toys. The impact is meaningful to our workforce and positive for the Frederick community.

Do you have anything else you would like the Chamber membership to know about?

We believe that company sponsored education opportunities are a way to enhance communication and community engagement. We are celebrating and supporting our diverse workforce by holding an English as a Second Language course by the Literacy Council and an Introduction to Spanish course through FCC. We currently have 20 people enrolled in the classes that are on-site once a week during work hours.
