Nationally – The Boys & Girls Club Movement began in 1906 when 53 local Clubs banded together to form a national organization to provide unified leadership and garner support for Clubs.
Since then, the Movement has expanded significantly, changing with the times to reflect the circumstances and issues facing young people. Today, Boys & Girls Clubs are renowned for their positive impact on America’s youth.
Locally, at Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County, their goal is to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
They exist to PROVE that every kid has what it takes. When youth walk through their doors, they meet them directly where they are and provide them with a safe space, mentorship, life-long friendships, and support to help them reach their full potential, no matter what barriers they face.

Meet The Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County
The Boys & Girls Club is not “just” a daycare center.
What makes us unique as a youth development organization is that we provide a safe, and very affordable place for all young people in our community during non-school hours (and school hours during this pandemic) and during the summer. – our Clubs are led by paid, trained youth development professionals.
We serve ALL kids. We serve at-risk youth, families who struggle financially, youth who are not struggling at all, and families in all zip codes within our community. The Club is a place where all children of all backgrounds can come together and learn from one another, learn together and grow to their fullest potential. They can come and have invaluable experiences that they would not otherwise have outside of Boys & Girls Club, and for many they can come and experience normalcy and have a fun childhood, which is now more important than ever.

They offer unique programs where local youth can learn and grow.
Youth can enjoy a host of unique programs designed to provide educational opportunities. They offer STEM programs designed to help close the opportunity gap in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, programs designed to educate youth about overall health and wellness, responsibility programs specifically for boys and girls and more.
Programs available include STEM programs, responsibility and mentor programs for boys and girls, as well as other educational and health and wellness based programs.

All you need is time to make a difference.
There are many ways people in the community can support Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County. Our children need role models and mentors – so volunteers are crucial to what we do. We also enjoy having professionals come to us as volunteers and run programs to expose the kids to new experiences and skills (cooking, STEM, Arts, Etc.). And of course, through financial contributions. We provide scholarships to many families for their kids to attend, so financial support goes a long way. We can not do the work we do without local support.
