With their long history in Frederick County, starting with founder Donald Linton in 1965, LSWG is known as a local staple in the accounting and tax arena.
Linton established the business while serving as Chief Accountant for Frederick County and preparing tax returns and financial statements part-time. And, as what started as a part-time gig grew, it became Linton, Shafer & Company and eventually—thanks to organic grow and mergers—in 2005, after a merger with Warfield Garrett & Associates, was renamed Linton Shafer Warfield & Garrett.
With all of the named principals now retired, the firm has become known as LSWG, and has a team of 50 professionals and two locations: Frederick and Rockville, Maryland.

Being a part of the Frederick community and giving back is important to you, tell us about that.
Community is the foundation of our firm. LSWG has been in Frederick for over 55 years. Over that time, our leaders have served as former presidents, chairs, and officers of many local civic organizations.
