It seems everyone is in holiday mode as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving next week, but there are a few fun and educational events planned for the week you may want to check out.

Casino Night

Join us, Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Holly Hills Country Club from 7 to 11 pm for our Casino Night Fundraiser.

Proceeds from our Casino Night Fundraiser help support our organization and mission to preserve and maintain Historic Steiner House. Steiner House was built in 1807. Frederick Woman’s Civic Club are the fifth owners of this exceptional home. In the 59 years that FWCC has owned the house it has been the top priority of our organization to maintain the home for future generations. The Casino Night Fundraiser will help with the expenses of a new roof.

Tickets for our event are $50 and include admission, appetizers, and Vegas casino style games with casino chips for playing. Please see our invitation below with more details. Must be 21 years old to attend.

Annual Tree Lighting at Westview Promenade

Come on out and enjoy our Annual Tree Lighting featuring live Holiday music, dancers, Victorian carolers, games with prizes for the kids, and free ice skating!  Don’t forget your camera for some great photo ops!

Lecture: “Why We Can’t Cure HIV Infection”

Lecture by Dr. John Coffin American Cancer Research Professor, Molecular Biology and Microbiology, Tufts University, Boston, MA Director of the AIDS Vaccine Research Initiative at Fort Detrick Coffin’s fields of interest are replication and evolution of retroviruses. He has been conducting molecular research for nearly 45 years, and he has nearly 300 published articles to his name.

Thanksgiving Pop Up Party

Join Flying Dog and Tenth Ward Distilling Company Wednesday, November 27 for a one of a kind Thanksgiving themed pop-up party. In this first collaboration, try up to 7 different beer-cocktails like “Dad, Drinking Already?” and “You So Fancy Aunt Francie”. And if the cocktail names don’t give it away, be prepared for an immersive experience featuring all your favorite (and not so favorite) family members. Tickets can be bought ahead of time for $20 or for $22 at the door – keep in mind tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis the day of the event. Your ticket gets you two beer cocktails and a family photo you actually want to share. Must purchase one ticket per person. Tickets are non-refundable and can only be used the day of the event. All guests must be 21+ with a valid ID.

Frosty Friday

Kick off your holiday season with all day shopping in Downtown Frederick! Parking in downtown will be FREE, plus there is a free trolley that circulates downtown every 15 minutes to make your day a breeze. Click here for a schedule of events.

Downtown businesses will be open for extended shopping hours from 9am-9pm and select restaurants will be open for an early morning breakfast at 8am.

Special events throughout the day include caroling and live music, make your own s’more stations, photos with Santa and holiday lights throughout downtown.

Carriage rides will be available 10am-3pm. Departing from 327 N. Market St. You are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time to reserve your spot. Tickets are $12 per person and can be purchased online at bit.ly/downtownfrederick.

Introducing the first annual Frederick Holiday Circus at 6pm. The center ring under the bigtop is coming to Frederick for one night only!  Local aerial dance group, Luna Aerial Dance and Performing Arts, will perform dance routines suspended 8 feet over the sidewalk! Local professional clown also performing.  An unforgettable performance, a new Frederick tradition!

Then at exactly 7pm, Santa Arrives to Downtown Frederick.  He will be pulled down East Street in a carriage.  This is followed by a Meet and Greet with Santa at I Made This.  Children will have the opportunity to tell Santa their wish list and pose for unforgettable photos, all while eating cookies and drinking chilled apple cider.
