Smart Business Speaker Series: A Strategic Approach to Teleworking
What if there was a way to attract and retain top employees, reduce absenteeism, increase employee productivity, and make your organization more resilient to disruptive events? These are some of the well-documented organizational benefits that teleworking can provide, yet many companies are missing out when it comes to getting the most out of teleworking. Too often, they take an informal approach which can lead to potential problems, like unproductive teleworkers and disgruntled co-workers.
This course will show you how to start, expand, or re-vamp a telework program based on best practices and the practical experience of hundreds of organizations. You’ll also learn how you receive free services to help start, expand, or re-vamp a Telework program available through Frederick County TransIT’s Employer Connection program!
What you will learn:
♦ Telework Myths vs. Reality
♦ The difference between teleworkers and remote workers
♦ How to establish sound eligibility criteria
♦ Managing teleworkers and remote workers
♦ Where to find sample policies and tools
♦ How to receive free services from Frederick County TransIT Employer Connection program

Women In Business: Working Mothers: Striving To Achieve Work/Life Balance
According to the latest numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 70 percent of American mothers with children under 18 work. Life as a working mother can be an isolating, overwhelming experience for many. Women often struggle with “mom guilt” and the concept of maintaining their own identity along with a healthy work/life balance.
Join the Women in Business committee of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce for a panel discussion centering around working mothers, the challenges of raising a family, pursuing a career and the elusive concept of balance.
This panel of three accomplished businesswomen and mothers have found different ways to balance work, their families, their communities and their own needs. The objective of the panel will be to offer different perspectives and open up the conversation of navigating trying to have it all (or ‘being a great mother, partner, and employee, while still taking care of yourself’).
Lunch is included.
