Discover Hood Day

Students and guests will learn helpful tips about applying to college, timelines and information on navigating the financial aid process. Attendees will have the opportunity to chat with professors, staff and current students about possible majors, study abroad, internships and all other aspects of campus life at Hood. Coaches will be available during the day to talk about Hood’s intercollegiate athletic programs and the new esports program. The day will end with student-guided campus tours and an optional lunch.

World Food Day Celebration

Attendees will enjoy a keynote lecture from Rev. Heber Brown III, founder of the Black Church Food Security Network (BCFSN) based in Baltimore. His talk, “Beyond Food Charity: A Profile of a More Sustainable Path Toward Justice, Health and Healing,” will discuss his initiatives to provide healthy produce and other food through his work with the BCFSN.

Evening Exchange (Speed Networking) at FCC Monroe Center

Love our Lunch Exchange events but can’t seem to break away during the day to attend?

Join us for a “Late Lunch Exchange” at the Frederick Community College Monroe Center hosted by the Culinary and Hospitality Program students, led by Elizabeth DeRose.

Want to make some new connections in a more intimate setting?  Limited to 40 people; this event allows you time to get to know your tablemates as you rotate around in the fashion of “speed-dating”.  Since we limit the amount of attendees and one from each company, you’ll have the opportunity to meet 39 other people as you rotate around through rounds and then networking after!  Hone your 90 second “elevator” speech and come make those new connections.

Value Proposition class taught by Stephanie Ottavan, President of Door No.3 Design The Value Proposition is an intricate part of The Business Model Canvas. It is a positioning statement that explains what benefit you provide for who and how you do it uniquely well. It describes you target buyer, the problem you solve, and why you’re distinctly netter than the alternatives. This class will zoom in on two blocks: Value Proposition and Customer Segment to help the entrepreneur: DEFINE the problem set to help vet whether it’s a problem worth solving EVALUATE whether your breakthrough is unique and compelling MEASURE potential customer adoption using the Gains, Pains, and Insights BUILD the Value Proposition
