A recently conducted survey found that women in banking were experiencing workplace challenges with: ‘having the confidence to push back against unreasonable requests’; ‘fighting back when treated unfairly’; and ‘not being too nice all the time’. These obstacles could be the reason only 26% of senior ranks in banking are female.
Frederick County Bank opened to the public in 2001 after noting a need for a local bank in the community. As community members, local banks and credit unions are frequently held to a higher standard than national chains. They know that the policies of their bank and the behavior of their employees has a direct effect on the local community. Frederick County Bank rises to the challenge when it comes to supporting the Frederick community having assisted over 500 organizations and businesses in Frederick County with financial, volunteer and mentoring support. They are proud to know that Frederick County residents often equate community engagement with FCB. That’s why, at Frederick County Bank, they strive towards giving women the tools they need to reach those coveted senior positions.
Linda Roth, a past president of Rotary Club of Carroll Creek and current Vice President of Community Development of Frederick County Bank, thinks S.H.E. Week is a great investment in the Frederick community that aligns specifically with the values of FCB where they strive towards giving women the tools they need to succeed in the workplace and reach coveted senior positions within the organization. “It [S.H.E Week] will show that the Frederick community has a vested interest in connecting women and supporting their efforts in the workforce,” she said.
As far as women in business, half of Frederick County Bank’s commercial lenders are women (an area that is heavily male dominated), half of their senior leadership are women, and many of their departmental supervisors are women as well. Supporting S.H.E. Week as the presenting sponsor just seemed like the perfect fit for Frederick County Bank.

About Frederick County Bank
FCB opened their doors in October 2001, with the goal of helping local businesses, individuals, and families manage, save, and enjoy their money. They saw a Frederick where local businesses and families could grow, neighbors would be supported, and people would invest in the future of their hometown. They saw a community that desired a personal touch and relationship with their bank, and we were ready to bring that back to Frederick. Today Frederick County Bank still develops and supports the economic and social health of our community. With five bank center locations in Frederick County, the FCB team is ready to be a resource to you. Whether you want to start a business, purchase or renovate your home, or just ask questions about your financial goals and plans, Frederick County Bank is here for you.
