Recognize and Recover Troubled Projects

Sometimes, despite our best intentions, projects and programs fail. Whether it is a campaign, a fundraising event, or a computer system implementation, sometimes things don’t go as planned. What can be done to get it back on track? Is it even worth saving? If you do get it back on track, how can you be sure it won’t happen again? First step is to recognize the signs. Second is to step up and take action. Finally, learn from the experience. Walk away with tools and techniques to assess the status of your own projects and help them stay on track. In this session, participants will explore: Common symptoms and indicators that trouble is ahead Strategies to rescue a failing project before it is too late Proactive strategies to reduce the risk of project failure in the future A light breakfast will be served. Presented by Linda Howard, Howard Consulting LLC – In partnership with The Nonprofit Village Linda Howard, of Howard Consulting LLC, focuses her energies and passions on helping nonprofit leaders improve the performance of their projects and teams so they can build stronger businesses and have greater impact.Linda uses project management concepts in conjunction with the Everything DiSC Workplace® behavior assessment as tools for building stronger teams who get better results from their projects. Through seminars, workshops, and facilitated meetings and retreats, she helps teams better understand each other, build more effective work relationships, and achieve better results from their projects and programs. Her clients often share that they are able to communicate more effectively, start projects faster, and get them back on track before they go off the rails. Linda is Immediate Past President of the Board of Directors for the National Capital Region chapter of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC). She is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and a Project Management Professional (PMP).On a personal note, Linda is absolutely in love with the outdoors and can often be found wandering in the woods, kayaking on a lazy river, or searching for a quiet place to enjoy the next sunset.

Frederick Women retreat

Be Prosperous Evening Retreat

What does prosperity mean to you? The dictionary defines it as a successful, flourishing, or thriving condition, especially in financial respects. Wholistic Prosperity flows through all areas of your well-being: body, heart, mind, and spirit. It’s about more than just money. However…what would it be like to have a new approach to your finances – an approach that is uniquely yours, based on your individual strengths? At this evening retreat coaches Carol deLaski and Jane Helm will blend two powerful tools to provide a framework for you to understand yourself better, celebrate what’s working, and learn strategies to address what could be better. Coach Carol will explore how your strengths serve you well with money…and how they may trip you up from time to time financially. Financial Coach Jane will introduce a Money Personality tool to creatively (and lightheartedly) look at typical money patterns that many of us fall into. Weaving these tools together they will help you understand how your individual strengths impact your relationship with money. You will leave this retreat with: Greater awareness of your strengths and your money personality Celebration of what you do well Small steps towards what you could do better A positive, and proactive approach to handling money your way *We recommend that attendees take the Strengths Finder assessment prior to this retreat and bring their top 5 strengths with them.
