Mount St. Mary’s University (MSMU) and the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce are announcing an agreement to provide Chamber members with tuition reduction for programs at the MSMU Frederick Campus. This represents the first higher education partnership for the Chamber.
The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, established in 1912, serves as a voice of business and provides strategic leadership and engagement in building the future of business and the community through information, collaboration, advocacy and services on behalf of employers in Frederick County. This agreement will assist employees of Chamber members in obtaining education needed to advance in their careers.
“For almost 20 years Mount St. Mary’s University has proudly served adult undergraduate and graduate students in Frederick County,” said Jennifer Staiger, Ph.D., MSMU’s associate provost of the Division of Graduate, Professional and Continuing Education. “As a Partner in Trust with the Chamber of Commerce, we are deeply honored to offer reasonably priced educational opportunities that help our fellow FCCC members ensure that their employees have the education and skill sets needed.”
Under the memorandum of understanding, Chamber members and employees will receive 20 percent off their tuition, starting with the Summer 2019 semester. The reduced tuition rate does not apply to supplies, books, fees, or other costs associated with a program.
“Our goal at the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce is to bring value to our membership, to provide a voice for the interests of the business community, and to build strategic partnerships that benefit the whole community. This new membership benefit offered by Mount Saint Mary’s University accomplishes all of these goals, and further demonstrates the importance of our higher education resources in helping our members and their employees develop their own skills and knowledge,” said Rick Weldon, Chamber president and CEO. “The Mount is well-known for their commitment to lifelong learning, and to helping develop the future business leaders of our county, state and region, and we’re grateful for the value the Mount offers to Chamber member companies through this program.”
Chamber members and employees will benefit from reduced tuition for undergraduate programs in accounting, business administration, elementary and special education, criminal justice and human services; master’s degrees in biotechnology and management, business administration, health administration, sports management, teaching, education in reading, education in technology facilitation and education in instructional leadership; and graduate certificates in data science, risk management and cybersecurity for professionals, quality assurance and regulatory science, project management, organizational development, government contracting, forensic accounting and fraud investigation, logistics and supply chain management and education certificates in advanced study in reading, instructional leadership and technology facilitation.
