Maryland Chamber Federation: A New Benefit for Our Small Business Members

With one of the largest chamber memberships in the state of Maryland made up of a diverse mixture of business entities, we are always eager to find creative ways to meet the individual needs of our members more effectively. From nonprofit organizations to large corporations and government agencies, our members represent all business sectors in the county. One thing many of our members have in common, however, is their designation as small businesses with under 50 employees–90% of our current members are classified as such. It is with them in mind that we are excited to announce our new partnership with the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.

To give our small business members the added benefit of being members of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, we’ve joined the Maryland Chamber Federation. This partnership among the MD Chamber and 14 county and regional chambers, including The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, allows that any business with 10 or fewer full time employees, who is a member of a participating local chamber, will receive FREE Federation membership into the Maryland Chamber of Commerce.

The goal of the federation’s creation is “to ensure the voice of small business is heard with minimal investment and maximum impact.” We as a Chamber want to provide our small business owners with as many opportunities as possible. We are eager to keep you informed about important business related news, information, and policy initiatives, empower you to become advocates for your interests, and help you grow your business within the county and beyond.

For those who meet the requirements, your member benefits will increase greatly by adding value beyond what membership in our county Chamber can easily provide including, but not limited to:

  • A team of government affairs professionals aggressively and proactively representing their businesses throughout the year at the state capitol and in Washington, D.C.
  • Opportunity to participate in statewide initiatives, surveys and coalitions and to provide feedback that has a direct impact on public policy development.
  • Up-to-date information on state issues through legislative e-news, The Leading Voice, grassroots business action updates and calls to action updates during the legislative session.
  • Chamber Legislative Briefings, including the legislative update, From the Halls, e-newsletter
  • Maryland Grassroots Advocacy Training – The Chamber’s issue advocacy education program training businesses on the nuts and bolts of how to effectively lobby elected officials.
  • Reduced member pricing for Maryland Chamber signature events
  • Participation in the Chamber’s D.C. Roundup at the U.S. Capitol
  • Aggressive, proactive General Assembly representation aggregating Chamber “Clout” to oppose initiatives harmful to business and supportive of job growth
  • Access to the members-only side of the Maryland Chamber website and member directory

We are excited to be a part of this initiative and anticipate that it will have great impact on our Chamber, our members, and the Frederick business community as a whole.

Take some time to learn more about the Maryland Chamber Federation and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about the partnership and/or your participation as a small business owner.
